Raymond Joe Maynor passed from his earthly home into the arms of his savior, Jesus Christ, on June 27, 2022 at the age of 94. Raymond was born on May 30, 1928 to Scott Andrew and Eliza Blake Maynor. He grew up in the Soddy-Daisy area until leaving for the Army where he served in the Korean War. Raymond loved hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a very caring and generous man and would help anyone he thought was in need. Raymond was a member of Elizabeth Lee UMC and the JOY Sunday School class. He worked for the trucking industry, retiring after 35 years. He was a proud member of the Teamsters.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Ruth Maynor, Hazel Reynolds, Catherine Morrison, Bobbie Arp and Shirley Barnes, brothers Lester, Columbus, and Don Maynor, and daughter Sharon Maynor Pegg.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 69 years, Nella Howell Maynor, daughter Janice (Charles) Gallaher and son DeWayne Maynor all of Chickamauga, grandchildren Blake Walker, Jan Cottom, Jeffrey (Lindsey) Gallaher and Laura (Thomas) Smith, great-grandchildren Brady and Violet Cottom, Amelia and Avery Gallaher, and Collier Smith. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 12:30 PM Friday at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Elizabeth Lee UMC Food Pantry or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
