Grace Wilson

May 14, 1933 ~ November 23, 2022 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Tribute

Grace Wilson, 89, of Chattanooga went home to be with her Lord Wednesday, November 23, 2022. Grace was born May 14, 1933 in Cosby, TN to the late George Leonard and Elmer Wilson.

Grace was an admirable woman and used by God in many ways. She taught children’s Sunday School classes for many years in her local church. She played the organ for that same church and for just as many years, and was the local church treasurer.

One can only wonder how many lives she touched in teaching those children year after year. What lessons stuck with them and kept their feet on the straight and narrow path that God wanted them on? Grace never married so she had no children of her own, but she invested in so many others. That wasn’t all she did. Besides the duties she did officially in her church, there were the unofficial acts of kindness. She prepared meals for people in need and pastor appreciations, visited those in the hospital, and often transported people in her car to church and other places.

Grace was a woman of conviction and she stuck to her convictions. She enjoyed music and had a radio going, listening to gospel music all the time. She enjoyed reading and also lent books to others.

Grace always had a smile for everyone she met, even total strangers. She dedicated every spare moment to serving the Lord.

Many talk about paying things forward. It’s not always easy to pay someone back for a kindness they’ve shown and we certainly cannot fully repay the Lord for what he has done for us. Paying it forward is all that we truly have. Grace paid it forward many times over and we will never know how many lives she has truly blessed.

She was preceded in death by her step mother, Cynthia Wilson; sisters, Ortense Pack, Vena Dillon and Xena Wilson; brothers, Alvin and Elbert Wilson; nieces, Sue Thomas and Anne Wiese.

Survivors include her brother in law, Demaree Dillon; nieces, Regina (Ron) Broach, Glenda (Alan) Frazier; nephews, Nathan (Shannon) Dillon, George (Kim) Wilson; special grandniece and caretaker, Rachel (Garland) Riddle; many grand nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be 12 PM, Saturday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be at Waters-Large Cemetery in Cosby, TN.
