Dr. Richard Franklin Collison, 65, of Ringgold passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at his home. He was a life-long resident of Ringgold and was a Professor of Chemistry at Dalton State College. Dr. Collison earned his undergraduate degree from UTC and his Ph.D. at the University of Alabama. He enjoyed watching sports, especially football and baseball.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Elfrieda Collison and a brother, Michael Collison.
Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Gail Collison; daughter, Amanda (Joshua) Collison German of Cape Coral, FL; brother, John (Melissa) Collison of Ringgold; sister, Colleen Long of Midlothian, TX; grandchildren, Lucas and Ella German; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, August 14, 2021 from 2-5 PM at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway.
